Alternative Medicine? -- Moses_Keon Oh, Lee

Image
I have tried traditional Korean medicine, known as Hanbang, by getting prescribed herbal medicine from a traditional Korean medicine clinic. Hanbang is a traditional Eastern medicine that is quite popular in Korea. During my student days, when I felt physically exhausted from long hours of studying, I visited a Korean medicine clinic. They prescribed herbal medicine to help replenish my stamina. The herbal medicine I took played a significant role in maintaining my physical condition until the day of the exam. Since then, whenever I feel a decline in my energy or encounter health issues that may not require conventional medical treatment, I occasionally seek assistance from traditional Korean medicine.

I have never tried any kinds of alternative medicine, but my grandmother received acupuncture few years ago. And she said it was good for relieving pains of the body.     I’m interested in trying meditation because I hear that is good for the mental health. I feel there are many sources of stress, so I want to try meditation if it has any positive impacts on the mental health. Also, I'm interested in acupuncture because of my backache.

Supplements!?💊 -- Yuto Tsujisawa

Image
Supplements💊 are often sold at supermarkets as alternative medicine! I often get canker sores, and ever since I was little, my parents would tell me to take supplements💊 every time I got a canker sore. I thought, “Isn't it too late after I get a canker sore?'” But I couldn't get into the habit of taking supplements💊 every day, so I only took them when I was told to. Then, when I became a college student and lived alone, I had terrible canker sores! It was terrible!😭😭😭 So, I decided to take supplements💊 every day, and when I did so, I no longer had canker sores. I think supplements💊 are effective to a certain extent! Everyone please try using it!

I have tried aromatherapy massage when I was first grade of university. I visited shop with my mother and it was so memorable. I tried lavender oil massage. I fell asleep when it was started.

I sometimes take herbal medicines. I get tired quite easily on a daily basis, so I take some herbal medicines that prevents summer fatigue.  Or I often eat too much and feel sick, so I take some then too😅 But I don't like to take herbal medicines because they are very bitter when they are in powder form. I also tried Osteopathic at a time when getting up in the morning was very difficult. My posture improved and I would try it again.

The last time I experienced alternative medicine was a long time ago, but it was such a memorable experience for me. I had an acupuncture treatment because my cousin’s father is an acupuncturist. I had been so curious about how it works. However, during the treatment, I only felt hurt and regretted taking it; I thought it was not that hurt since my parents and my grandmother said it was refreshing. I also expected it would bring a lot of change to my body, but NOTHING CHANGE ― maybe I was too young to experience how my parents feel? :(  I do not think alternative treatments are the best way to keep people’s bodies in good condition since they didn’t work for me. However, I believe it is not the worst way either; sometimes people feel it is working.

I experienced an "aromatherapy" session when I was in elementary or junior school with my mom at a hotel. Although I'm not certain if it was indeed aromatherapy, I received a massage using aroma oil that had a lavender scent. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, especially since my legs tended to swell when I didn't drink enough water.

Hello there, I’m Keiya. Have you ever tried to go on a diet in order to lose your weight? There are so many purposes of that, for example, some people say for health, other people say for keeping their body’s shape.  In Japan, as far as I know, the problem that those who want to lose weight are prescribed the medicine for diabetes mellitus has been appeared. What is the problem?   Yes, it has a huge big issue because there are many side effect. It is, of course, made for patients so if those who do not suffer from illness take medicine, it is obvious to happen unexpected effects. According to Japan Medical Association, that situation is strongly discouraged. We ought to utilize for medicines as the right way!

My parents started acupuncture a few years ago to relieve stiff shoulders and they say it helps. I have tried it once before and didn't feel any effects at that time. I later found out that the effect cannot be felt until several days of treatment have passed. I want to try again because the fact of my parents' effects interested me.

Alternative Medicine? -- Brian (Chulgyu) Ku

To begin, personally, My mum's aunty takes Korean red ginseng for a cup of tea or eatable jellies. My aunty fully satisfices fully it and I have tried once from my mum and I do not really think that the ginseng is tasty but feeling healthy after I ate it. I do not really want to try any other types of alternative medicines because they are outdated and there is no scientific proof where those are thought to be MEDICINE.

There is an acupuncture as alternative medicine. In Japan, I think this treatment is quite popular.     Actually, my father had had this treatment around 5 years ago. He had a bad back and went enthusiastically two or three times a week for about three years. However, his back did not get better. Now, he is satisfied with this result because his stress because of the painful of back had got better. That's why I don't think it's particularly good, but I don't think it's bad either.

The number of clover leaves --- Yutsuki Minoura

Image
The clover is a symbol of happiness. I think everyone has looked for a four-leaf clover when we were little. Four-leaf clovers make me especially happy. In fact, in addition to three and four-leaf clovers, there are rare five-leaf, six-leaf, and seven-leaf clovers! But even more surprisingly, the clover with the most leaves in the world has 56 leaves!😮 This was discovered by Japanese clover researchers. 56 leaves means that it is 14 times happier than a four-leaf! I think maybe this researcher will live happily ever after!😁 This is a picture of the actual 56-leaf clover

I don't want to go to school! -- Yuto Tsujisawa

Image
In the past, I didn't want to go to school, so I thought how long a day would be on other planets. So, today, for people like me, I will introduce good places to move to in the solar system. The length of a day on each planet is expressed in hours: 4222.6 hours for Mercury, 2802.0 hours for Venus, 24.0 hours for Earth, 24.7 hours for Mars, 9.9 hours for Jupiter, 10.7 hours for Saturn, 17.2 hours for Uranus, and 16.1hours for Neptune. From here, you can understand why a plan to move to Mars is being considered. However, I want to go to Mercury! Venus is also fine! On Earth, school already starts tomorrow...ah! Today is already a school day! It's past 12 o'clock! it's awful! The worst has begun!!

The surprising origin of 'Hijack - Mika

Image
"Hijack" refers to the act of unlawfully seizing control, often applied to situations involving transportation such as aircraft or vehicles. In the U.S., there used to be a trend where criminals, pretending to be acquaintances, would approach people and address them with the common American name 'Jack'. It means the origin of hijack from "Hi, Jack". I think it is similar to "OREORE scam", involves criminals impersonating relatives or friends, claiming to be in urgent need, and deceiving individuals into sending them money. The thoughts of a scammer are found to be universal across the world.

Do you know about hippos? You guys maybe think hippos are gentle and calm animals. However, the fact is different. First, it is about 3 or 4 meters in their body length and their weight are 1.5t ~ 4t like elephants and rhinoceroses. Also, hippos can run at 40 kilometers per 1 hour and they can swim at 60 kilometers per 1 hour. Therefore, it is said that hippos are “the strongest animal in the animal world” or “the strongest creature on the earth”.

Image
Every country has its own national anthem. On the global level, the national anthem is played in the Olympic Games to identify the participating nations. We c onsider that the anthem takes approximately no more than three minutes.  Actually, the most longest national anthem is 55 minutes from Greek.  Impressed by the Greek people's thrust for liberty and their struggle to liberate themselves from others, Dionysios Solomos wrote the longest national anthem of 158 verses in 1823.  Usually only two verses are sung in public. a

Are We using both Nostrils for Breathing?--Manami Kataoka

Image
Do you know about nasal breathing? Most people can only breathe through one nostril at a time, and the airflow through the nostrils switches unconsciously every few hours. The reason for this is to alleviate the burden on breathing and to enhance the sensitivity to smell.

Why is the begging of notes ‘A(la)’?__ Keiya Mori

Image
Hello I’m Keiya. I love music both listening and playing and I belonged to wind music club.   By the way, do you all know the reason that the start of notes is La? Actually, in English, we can say ‘la,’ but in German, they often say ‘A’ and it’s pronounced A as [ a: ]. I believe that most of all people who know music tend to pronounce as the German way.  The definition of A(la) is the sixth notes by dictionaries. Why and who did choose A(la) because it seems to be complicated and difficult to memorize.  I can tell you all the easiest method to remember. Let’s say think about the keys of piano and what key is the first note in the left? Yeah, it is A(la)!  How easy! I’m happy if someone has interest in music!   Thank you!

Image
Many Japanese people use the word of "Yabai" everyday. This word is really useful because this word can mean whatever you want it to mean. For example, scary, funny, happy, sad and so on. Many people think this is a recent word because it is a word mostly used by young people. However, in fact, "Yabai" has existed since the Edo period!!! I think it is really interesting fact.:)
