Rangi--- Haruka
The word means “the sky”. It is originated from the god of the sky: Ranginui. In Maori and other Polynesian mythology Ranginui is a husband of the earth goddess Papatuanuku. They were locked in a crushing embrace but were eventually separated by their children, the other gods. They always tightly sticked each other, so it was said that the world didn’t have any light at that time. But they were separated by their child: Tane-Mafuta. That’s why it is told that the sky is far away from the land now. Thanks to light, plants, animals and everything ended up to grow. Nowadays, this word “Rangi” is popular for children’s names in New Zealand.
